Our Promise

At Kennedy’s Promise, we guide, support, and nurture children and their families through their language development journey.

Our mission is to empower families with expert guidance in understanding language diagnoses, provide effective strategies to enhance communication skills, and create a nurturing environment during these critical developmental years. Together, we help children build confidence, strengthen their language abilities, and reach their full potential.

Expressive Language

Expressive language skills allow children to share their thoughts, needs, and emotions. When a child struggles with expressive language, they may have difficulty naming objects, forming sentences, or communicating wants—like saying “milk” or “I want more milk.” Through personalized therapy, we help children build the confidence and skills they need to express themselves clearly and effectively.

Receptive Language

Receptive language refers to a child’s ability to comprehend spoken or written language. When a child struggles in this area, they may have difficulty following directions, understanding questions, or processing information. Our therapy sessions focus on strengthening these skills, helping children better engage in conversations, follow instructions, and navigate their world with confidence.

Articulation

Articulation refers to how we produce speech sounds. When a child has difficulty pronouncing certain sounds—such as saying “yewow” instead of “yellow”—it can impact their clarity and confidence. Our therapy focuses on improving speech sound production through fun, engaging techniques, helping children speak more clearly and be understood with ease.

Where We Provide Services

Kennedy's Promise proudly serves children and families across Cherokee, Clay, and Macon Counties in North Carolina, including select daycares within these areas. Our therapy sessions take place in a child’s natural environment—whether at home, daycare, a park, or even the local library—fostering comfort, confidence, and meaningful language development in everyday settings.

Payment Options

We currently accept NC Medicaid and self-pay (cash or check)

We had the pleasure of having Breanna be our first and only speech therapist from 18 months old to 3 years old when he aged out of early intervention. It took our son only a couple of weeks to warm up to her and from then on he thought of her like part of the family, and so did we. Breanna always had fun games and toys for our son to interact with and keep him entertained. She worked with us on goals and helped him achieve them. He went from saying only Dada to a wide range of words in her time with him. He is now in Speech Therapy at the Primary School and continuing to make more and more progress. I’m so thankful to Breanna for getting us started in the right direction and setting us up for success. Thank you!

Ashley B.
